A New Term, A New Chance

Mohamed Gbenga · September 14, 2026

Every September, the same question comes up in the homes we work with in Bo District: will this be the year school stays out of reach? For too many families, a uniform, a pair of shoes, or a set of exercise books is the difference between a child walking through the school gate or staying home.

This term, we walked alongside more than 40 children across five communities to make sure that question had a different answer. Uniforms. Notebooks. Pens, bags, the small things that sound simple until you don't have them. For a child, showing up dressed and equipped like everyone else isn't a detail — it's dignity.

We've seen what happens next. Attendance holds. Confidence grows. A child who was embarrassed to sit at the back of the classroom starts raising their hand. None of it happens because of one gift — it happens because a family didn't have to choose between feeding their children and educating them this term.

This is the work: not grand gestures, but steady presence — showing up at the start of every term, in every community, for every child who's counting on it.

If you've ever wondered what your support actually buys, this is it. A seat in a classroom. A future that stays open a little longer.
